Goffin – Lajovic. Paris Masters 2015
Lajovic is on good form. His win over Mahut was not accidental at all. Lajovic was running around the court, reaching almost every ball. Mahut, realizing, that he can do nothing at the baseline, started to come to the net, but it didn’t work either, as Lajovic knew how to hit passing shots. Although Lajovic is on form, the surface doesn’t suit him well. However, due to the excellent form he can still give Goffin a good fight. The Belgian does not show his best tennis in the end of the season, but he can beat Lajovic even with such game.
Goffin is a favorite, but Lajovic is able to put up a fight.
Nishikori – Chardy. Paris Masters 2015
Chardy made a lot of mistakes in the beginning of his match against Pouille, while Lucas controlled the game. But after the breakpoint in the second set, Chardy woke up and started to serve and return well, while Pouille started to lose ground. Chardy completely seized the initiative in the match in the middle of the second set and calmly sealed the victory. Jeremy played quite well in the middle of the second and third set. Nishikori after the Shanghai Masters has not played a single game. The first rounds are always hard for him. Nishikori needs game practice before the ATP final, and most likely he came well-prepared for the Masters, but to determine his current form is not possible.
Nishikori is a favorite, but Chardy will fight hard.
Cilic – Dimitrov. Paris Masters 2015
Dimitrov looked strong against Carreno-Busta in all aspects – service game, concentration, stability. It was an easy match for the Bulgarian. Cilic had a really disappointing last match against Nadal. Dimitrov is showing signs of a good form, and most importantly his moral is high. It will be a difficult match for Cilic, because Dimitrov moves better and is more technical, but Cilic’s serve should compensate that.
Dimitrov is a slight favorite, but anything can happen in this one.
Bedene – Isner. Paris Masters 2015
Bedene easily beat Granollers, but showed very poor tennis along the way. It was a low quality match with a lot of silly mistakes and low speeds. Bedene is an average player with an average game. Isner has a lackluster end of the season, failing to win at least two consecutive encounters. But, as he’s still fresh, he should be able to beat Bedene in his first match at the tournament. Bedene is a fine baseliner, but Isner is stronger and more experienced. The American would benefit from Bedene’s disability to serve consistently.
John Isner is a favorite.
Roger-Vesslin – Berdych. Paris Masters 2015
Roger- Vesslin showed amazing determination and high motivation, which helped him to win seal his first victory in the main draw. His lack of skills was overshadowed by his will-power and desire to win. The Frenchman has also received some assistance from his rival Ivo Karlovic. Ivo made a lot of mistakes in simple situations, but still managed to control the game until the tie-break of the third set. Karlovic looked very confident in the third set up to the moment when he was serving for the match. No one could have predicted what happened next. The Croat failed to convert his match points and eventually lost the game. Roger-Vesslin is not the only one who should benefit from his victory. His next opponent Tomas Berdych should be happy too, that instead of dangerous Karlovic he’s due to play against Roger. The Frenchaman is likely to get powered off the court in this one.
Berdych is a definite favorite.
Troicki – Lopez. Paris Masters 2015
Jack Sock did not have enough time to recover after Basel, so he failed to give Troicki a good fight. Troicki tried to play safe, while Sock had problems in longer rallies and made too many mistakes. The American player was unable to quickly move on court and reach the ball in time. Troicky was constantly challenging Sock’s backhand, giving him no opportunity to attack. So, it was a deserved victory of a fresher and more motivated Troicki. Lopez is looking very relaxed at the end of the year. Apparently he’s already getting ready for the offseason. Lopez is not motivated enough to give a good fight to Troicki, who plays with passion and determination.
Troicki is a favorite, but we won’t be surprised by any result.
Anderson – Thiem. Paris Masters 2015
Anderson is still dealing with his shoulder injury, so it’s hard to predict the way he will be playing. He can either show strong tennis or just take money for the first round and go home. Thiem is in good condition. He has powerful shots, but lacks consistency. The outcome of this encounter will completely depend on Anderson’s form. If the South African decides to go for a win, Thiem will be in trouble. We tend to think that Anderson won’t be in shape.
Anderson is a slight favorite, but Thiem has chances to win too.

Such evaluation of Gasquet from the bookmakers is understandable. The Frenchman lost his two previous encounters in a row to Monaco and Nadal, which is a sign of a bad form from Richard.
From the moment he appeared on courts, Kei Nishikori has always been one of 5 or 6 super talented promising players. Within the last 3-4 years Kei showed nothing special which reflected on his modest results: he sustained a good tennis level, won several ATP 250 titles, performed well on majors – but...
