Tennis tips and betting predictions: Marcel Granollers v Joao Sousa in the Mutua Madrid Open
Joao hasn’t showed anything worthwhile so far. Despite his favorite surface, clay, the Portuguese makes too many mistakes. And even at his home event, he lost it to the eventual champion displaying very poor performance. Sousa is obviously out of form. The match against Mahut has proved it. The final 6-4, 6-4 on the scoreboard didn’t reflect the actual course of the play. It was a close contest and only a few rallies made the difference.
Fortune favors Marcel Granollers. During the latest two Masters he got to the main draw as a lucky loser, having failed the qualification round. But all in all, Marcel has tuned his tennis and will do his best to show good performance at his home event in Spain. The Portuguese isn’t the strongest opponent possible. The clay is slower Madrid that was last year, which is another benefit to Granollers. The only question mark is the players’ styles of play: Sousa prefers to dictate his play and may be capable to neutralize Granollers’ defense. The Portuguese leads the h2h series 2-1 but given the current situation, we bet on the Spaniard’s win.
Betting pick: Marcel Granollers is the favorite to the upcoming event.
