Indian Wells 2016 R2 match previews: Dimitrov v Zverev, Djokovic v Fratangelo, Nadal v Muller, Pospisil v Simon
Grigor Dimitrov v Alexander Zverev
Dimitrov has made very strong performance in Acapulco where he lost to the eventual champion Dominic Thiem. Now the Bulgarian realizes that he has good chances to make it to the last 16. While Dimitrov seems to be in a very fit form, Alexander Zverev is a question mark at this event. The young German looked unconvincing in the opening round. Probably, acclimatization issues made a difference, but there a lot of drawbacks in his play right now. At the same time it’s hardly possible to imagine that Alexander may display anything worse than he did against Ivan Dodig. Dimitrov and Zverev are very close players and we expect to see a tough match.
Betting pick: Dimitrov is a slight favorite but we advise choose a positive handicap bet on Zverev as it’s possible the German will take one of the sets.
Novak Djokovic v Bjorn Fratangelo
Djokovic is definitely not in his best. The Davis Cup performance turned out to be quite exhausting but the Serb had enough time to recover in between. His main opponents are in the other part of the draw and the way to the QF is open. 22 year-old Bjorn Fratangelo from the USA has excellent physical form that enabled him to reach the third round of the event. But of course, Novak is unattainable level for the American who has no tools in his arsenal to defeat the world’s No.1. For Djokovic it will be enough to show 60-70% of his capacity to prevail.
Betting pick: The handicap set by the bookies isn’t transparent. The main question mark is how the Serb will start the match. So the match is better to omit.
Rafael Nadal v Gilles Muller
After failing his performance on clay courts Nadal has transferred to the American hardcourts right away to capitalize. The Spaniard must have no troubles reaching the QF round and inconsistent Muller shall be no challenge as well. The Luxembourgish player shows a solid first serve but “the rest is silence” so to say. Gilles can hardly use the baseline and his approaches to the net will be ineffective against the Mallorcan.
Betting pick: Nadal is a clear favorite to the match. Bet at the negative handicap.
Vasek Pospisil – Gilles Simon
Vasek Pospisil has hardly survived a tough challenge in the first round of the Indian Wells Masters. The Canadian made too many mistakes in evidently simple situations. Pospisil’s main hope is for his service play. Gilles Simon isn’t an easy contender. It will be the first match for the French and he is capable of surprising. So what we advise is to bet this match live and choose either Simon’s win or a handicap on him. Generally Gilles is stronger than the 25-year-old form Vancouver but the start of the match is unpredictable.

From the moment he appeared on courts, Kei Nishikori has always been one of 5 or 6 super talented promising players. Such evaluation of Gasquet from the bookmakers is understandable. The Frenchman lost his two previous encounters in a row to Monaco and Nadal, which is a sign of a bad form from Richard.
The more I watch the matches with the American players the stronger is my feeling that they all resemble one another. It all looks like a plant cranking out products of the same quality and with the same spoilage. And this trend holds true for the last 4-5 years...
