The logics of the bookies is completely incomprehensible for me in this match where Victor Troicki faces off Martin Klizhan. Troicki has been banned for one year from playing tennis and now he is back in tour outside the second hundred. What the Serb had to do to fight back? Play on clay, of course! As clay challengers are played all year round to allow low-ranked players get some scores. Troicki has been playing on clay for two months by now, playing hard and thoroughly. The match under consideration will take place on hard, which is another planet so to say. And it's almost unreal to switch from a two-months marathon on clay to hard surface. The Serb qualified for the Shenzhen Open by playing three tiebreaks in four sets with very questionable guys.

His opponent from Slovakia, Martin Klizhan, tends to show much better tennis on hard. He had somehow scrpaed through the US Series, then five sets at the US Open against Berdych and Davis Cup against the Americans. Surely, his results leave much to be desired, but the Slovakian is a kind of player who has to play a lot before catching his rhythm. Here he looked good in qualification rounds with all his marks getting better and better with every single encounter. Troicki prevails over him only in one element - his service play. But still we bet on Klizhan as a favorite in this match: he has played over a month on hard, consequently he needed no time for acclimatization and adapation. Moreover, the Slovakian is a left handy, which will make it even more troublesome for Troicki to come of best.
Troicki - Klizhan. H+1,5 Klizhan, odds 1,94.

The more I watch the matches with the American players the stronger is my feeling that they all resemble one another. It all looks like a plant cranking out products of the same quality and with the same spoilage. And this trend holds true for the last 4-5 years...
Such evaluation of Gasquet from the bookmakers is understandable. The Frenchman lost his two previous encounters in a row to Monaco and Nadal, which is a sign of a bad form from Richard.
From the moment he appeared on courts, Kei Nishikori has always been one of 5 or 6 super talented promising players. Within the last 3-4 years Kei showed nothing special which reflected on his modest results: he sustained a good tennis level, won several ATP 250 titles, performed well on majors – but...
