Tennis tips and betting predictions at Milos Raonic v Roger Federer match at the Indian Wells Masters 2015
Milos Raonic was lucky enough in the match against Rafael Nadal. The Canadian was within an inch of defeat in the second set. He managed to save 5 break points and 3 match points. Another significant factor is the percentage of points won on the first serve: Raonic had 81%, while Nadal had 82%. These numbers were even more different in the first and second sets. Now you can compare the serve and its importance in the Rafa’s and Milos’ game. Summing up, we can say that Milos played worse than Rafael, but it was the Canadian, who eventually made it into the semifinal.
Roger Federer had a very confident victory over Tomas Berdych, mainly due to the fact that Berdych yet again didn’t have enough nerve to stand up to the stronger opponent. He produced loads of mistakes, too many double faults (which is inexcusable for a male player), and had a very weak percentage of the 1st serve (only 42%). In one word, Berdych wasn’t a serious obstacle for Federer on his way to the semifinal. We expect that in the duel against Raonic, Federer will be highly concentrated. And it would be enough for him to celebrate victory. We doubt that Roger will have any problems on his serve and he will be quite able to make at least one break in each set.
Other important aspects are that Federer plays with a very weak rotation, uses slices and frequently approaches the net. All this is extremely inconvenient for Milos. Even Nadal won a huge amount of net points in the match against Milos. Federer is able to win even more. Moreover, playing against Federer, Raonic won’t be able to do his killer shots from the half court or from the baseline, just because Roger doesn't give the same rotation to the ball as Nadal, therefore the ball doesn’t bounce so high. We should also mention that Raonic is mentally not that strong. In the match against Nadal Raonic failed the first set, but later made a comeback and showed a quality game. There is always a possibility, that Raonic may fail the beginning of the match (or even the entire match) due to his mental issues. There were very important matches, when Raonic’s first serve was only at 35% (at least in one of the sets). Physical condition has been the only weak spot of Federer’s tennis lately. In Indian Wells he had no problems with that, but in a long tough match he may begin to suffer.
So Dotennis team guesses that Roger Federer has very good chances to make it into the final.
