Tennis tips and betting predictions. Marin Cilic vs Rafael Nadal at ATP Basel 2015
It took a lot of effort for Rafael Nadal to reach the quarterfinal. He narrowly avoided another painful defeat from Lukas Rosol. The Czech player was within 2 points from the victory, by failed to serve for the match. It allowed Nadal to stay in the game and eventually claim the much-needed victory. In his next match against Grigor Dimitrov the 14-times Grand Slam winner was in all kind of troubles again. Nadal repeatedly challenged Dimitrov's backhand, which brought him most of the winning points and a victory. It will not work out against Cilic, who has a more consistent backhand. These days Rafa plays defensive tennis waiting to take advantage of a mistake by the opponent. If he does not change his tactics and improve his game, we don’t think he’ll be able to outplay Cilic.
Marin Cilic had no trouble beating Gabashvili on his way to the quarterfinal. It looks like he can still improve. If Cilic manages to play as strong as he did in the Kremlin Cup final, Nadal won’t stand a chance. Marin should dictate his game to Rafa, who starts to panic when he’s under pressure. Cilic has the game that can trouble Nadal, he only needs to serve consistently and to improve his baseline game a little bit. We expect Cilic to win.
